마가복음 10:17 ~31

17 예수께서 밖에 나가려고 하시는데 한 사람이 예수께로 달려와 그 앞에 무릎을 꿇고 물었습니다. "선하신 선생님, 제가 영원한 생명을 얻으려면 어떻게 해야 합니까?"/And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

18 예수께서 대답하셨습니다. "네가 왜 나를 선하다고 하느냐? 오직 하나님 한 분 외에는 선한 분이 없다./And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

19 네가 '살인하지 말라, 간음하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 거짓 증언하지 말라, 사기 치지 말라, 부모를 공경하라' 하는 계명들을 알고 있을 것이다."/You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.'"

20 그가 말했습니다. "선생님, 저는 어릴 때부터 이것들을 모두 어김없이 지켜 왔습니다."/And he said to him, "Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth."

21 예수께서 그를 쳐다보고 사랑스럽게 여기시며 말씀하셨습니다. "네게 한 가지 부족한 것이 있다. 가서 네가 가진 것을 모두 팔아 가난한 사람들에게 나눠 주어라. 그리하면 하늘에서 보물을 얻게 될 것이다. 그리고 와서 나를 따라라."/And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."

22 이 말씀을 듣자 그 사람은 무척 근심스러운 얼굴로 슬퍼하며 떠나갔습니다. 그가 대단한 부자였기 때문입니다./Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23 예수께서는 제자들을 둘러보시고 말씀하셨습니다. "부자가 하나님 나라에 들어가기가 참으로 어렵다."/Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!"

24 제자들은 예수의 말씀에 무척 놀랐습니다. 그러자 예수께서 다시 말씀하셨습니다. "얘들아, 하나님 나라에 들어가기가 얼마나 어려운지/The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

25 부자가 하나님 나라에 들어가는 것보다 낙타가 바늘귀를 지나가는 것이 더 쉽다."/It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

26 제자들은 더욱 놀라서 서로 수군거렸습니다. "그러면 도대체 누가 구원받을 수 있다는 말인가?"/The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"

27 예수께서 그들을 보시고 말씀하셨습니다. "사람은 할 수 없지만 하나님께서는 하실 수 있다. 하나님께는 모든 것이 가능하다."/Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."

28 베드로가 예수께 말했습니다. "보시다시피 우리는 모든 것을 버리고 주를 따랐습니다!"/Then Peter spoke up, "We have left everything to follow you!"

29 예수께서 말씀하셨습니다. "내가 너희에게 진실로 말한다. 나와 복음을 위해 집이나 형제나 부모나 자식이나 자기 땅을 버린 사람은/"Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel

30 지금 이 세상에서 집과 형제자매와 어머니와 자녀와 땅을 100배나 더 받되 핍박도 함께 받을 것이고 이제 올 세상에서는 영원한 생명을 받을 것이다./will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.

31 그러나 먼저 된 사람이 나중 되고 나중 된 사람이 먼저 되는 일이 많을 것이다."/But many who are first will be last, and the last first."
